Best GPS Under $200

I'm happy to tell you that this is already my third article in my series of the best GPS navigation systems for cars in specific price ranges. GPS navigation belongs to one of the best electronic tools and products I use and am very satisfied with. It REALLY makes my life easier when it comes to traveling, especially on a vacation to a foreign country.

For example I'm from Slovakia, which is in central Europe (for those who might not know that) and this summer I went, together with my girlfriend and friends to a nice place at beach in Alba Adriatica, which is in the central part of Italy. The journey with my Garmin 260 was very straight and easy with no problems at all. Although it got lost on a new part of high way just before Bologna, because I had loaded maps that were more than a year old, that was no problem at all. We just continued on the highway and at some point, my navigation simply caught up again, like nothing had happened.

It was a great vacation by the way, but this is just a small example. A year ago we were in Croatia, and again as you might expect, it was more than easy. All I had to do was to follow the map directions and voice on my GPS and BAM! - 10 hours later and we were there in our target place in Croatia.

But let me go quickly back to my topic, and let me introduce you to the best GPS under $200.

Garmin nüvi 1390LMT 4.3-Inch Portable GPS Navigator

If you've already decided to invest and buy your new GPS for under 200 dollars, I'd like to present you what I think could be your best choice. This category of Garmin nüvi is already comes with features that you would hardly find on the basic GPS navigations. If you're looking to buy a GPS but don't necessarily want to save some bucks, Garmin nüvi 1390LMT will reward you with some nice extra and nice looking features.

Here's what you can expect:

  • it comes preloaded with maps depending on the country you're buying it in
  • 4.3-inch backlit TFT color touchscreen display with 480 x 272 WQVGA pixel resolution very nicely readable on the sunlight
  • lifetime update for new maps, POIs (points of interest), traffic updates so that you don't get stuck in a jam

Advanced navigation features:

  • voice-prompted turn-by-turn directions
  • lane assist with junction view
  • fuel-saving ecoRoute
  • Integrated Bluetooth wireless technology with a built-in microphone and speaker for hands-free calling

The lane assist with junction view is the function I mostly miss on my simple Garmin navigation. It looks really great and would definitely add on convenience on my already great driving experience.

That's it. I hope you found my article useful and wish you safe and comfortable journeys.
