Nokia Cell Phone Laptop - Booklet 3G

By

As we could expect, Nokia started selling netbooks which are actually simple mini laptops. If you would like to compare them, there's also a lot of other differences but mainly we can say that netbooks have slower processors and are cheaper in comparison to laptops.

The Finnish mobile giant unveiled its first mobile computer. The used processor is Intel Atom, the operation system Windows and there are also batteries, which provide 12-hour operation on one charge. All with the support of mobile Internet.

Nokia named it's first cell phone laptop or netbook - Booklet 3G. It has aluminum body, contrasting black keyboard and glass-clad black screen bezel, and thus it looks almost like a miniature Apple MacBook. It has a screen of 10 inches diagonal. Although it's not perfect and if you look closer you can even see individual pixels, it has a 1,280x720 pixel panel which is larger than on most 10.1-inch displays. In the thin 2 cm body there's not only a Wi-Fi module for access to the internet, but also a data modem to connect to 3G networks. The company aims to offer Nokia fans a versatile addition to the smartphone.

Small tablets, which offered so far haven't been very successful. Netbooks are closing the gap between laptops and handheld computers or smartphones. Almost all manufacturers of mobile computers have them in their offer. Computer manufacturers have been experimenting with the production of mobile phones for several years. However, Nokia is the first manufacturer of mobile phones, seeking to enter the market for computers.

Booklet 3G is different from other models thanks to his generous equipment of features. You can find there an HDMI output, GPS module, camera for video calling, an SD card reader and a bluetooth module. Pre-installed software shall ensure a link to online Ovi services, but also sync with Nokia phones. With Booklet 3G you will also have access to the music shop - Nokia Music Store or sharing documents, photos and videos.

Booklet 3G's keyboard

The keyboard requires some time to get used to, although its buttons are well spaced. The problem is that the keys are relatively small. There's a large trackpad, however it lacks multi-touch gesture support and has selector buttons with very little travel. If the pressing click weren't that loud, you could be forgiven for thinking they were broken. The netbook has also an accelerometer, however there are no applications supplied that use it.

Booklet 3G by Nokia is definitely a great piece of work and one of it's biggest advantages is it's battery life of almost 7 hours. One of it's biggest rivals is Samsung N150 that is also considerably cheaper and with a similar battery life.
