By

What happens if a manufacturer stuffs a computer inside of a keyboard with touch screen, battery and ability to connect to a TV without a cable? If you are looking for an interesting machine in your living room, check this out. Take an average notebook, add to it a number of technological features and drop it to a designer. The result is a unique PC in keyboard.

It's name is Eeekeyboard PC and instead of offices it goes to living rooms. Modern televisions are close to the internet, but their functions are significantly reduced. They can display photos from the internet, provide access to videos, and often even support an access to social networks or video calls. However computers are far more versatile and functional. Eeekeyboard PC doesn't even need a cable to connect with a TV. A small wireless receiver connected to the HDMI input on TV in the range of five meteres will ensure a link with the keyboard, which contains everything that's needed. The signal is transmitted in HD Ready resolution and the screen appears when you turn on the familiar user interface for Windows XP. It's like if you connected your TV to your PC or laptop. However, this one you can put on your knees or move easily from one couch to another. While when put on table it will get energy from the power supply AC adapter, you can use it outside of your adapter for 4 hours thanks to its built-in battery.

Illumitated aluminum buttons in the original format country-wide, low lift, and significant gapes between the buttons add a nice dose of comfort. Multi-touch screen on the right has two functions. After connecting the TV it serves as a secondary display with excellent readability for system control and comfort, which is not useful only when you have a problem to read some text from the TV, but also if you want to control some of the pre-installed applications.

While watching some nice movie on your TV, you can comfortably read e-mails at the same on your PC in keyboard. It has a 5 inch display with a resolution of 800x480 pixels. When the touchpad mode is turned on, it nicely replaces mouse which is similar to a small touchpads which you can see on laptops. Softwares running on the screen can be operated by your right thumb or fingers of your right hand.

Widgets are trying to be a kind of supplement and are similar to the complementary services you can find on your mobile phone. There is a notepad, weather forecast, calendar, calculator, alarm clock or the current time, a media player for music, videos and photos or a quick access to internet services and social networks. There's also a couple of games to be found.

Here's what you can find under the hood

Mobile processor with a low power consumption, one gigabyte of memory, chipset with low power and graphics accelerator able to play an HD video with 720 lines. The PC in keyboard is built on a year old technology, which replicates the possibilities of the new netbooks from this year. The video playback in HD resolution is taken care of by a decoder of Broadcom company, which is embedded in the form of an expansion card. Playback is smooth and free from any lags. Data is stored on semiconductor SSD drive with capacity of 16 or 32 GB. That's why the boot and access to files are very quick.

Asus EeeKeyboard PC supports connecting of accessories as well. It has a gigabit network interface, WiFi wireless module, Bluetooth, and 3 USB ports. However it lacks a built-in memory card reader.

Let's sum things up

This machine is a full-fledged computer that bears characteristics of mobile and netbook platform. Easily handles an internet access, office work and can even stand the role of an information terminal or a shared computer department. This model fills up a market gap in multimedia portable computers.
