Tattoos Hiding Stretch Marks - Yes or No?

By

So you have found some stretch marks on your body, and you wonder what you can do about them? There certainly is a huge amount of different lotions and techniques. This article is about one pretty unusual - it's about tattoos hiding stretch marks.

I'm sure that a lot of people might wonder, who would be able to do something like that? The answer is that many people. Before I tell you my opinion on all this and if I recommend you to do it, let me first tell you what you should take into consideration, in case you think about that.

  1. How long have you already had the stretch mark? If it is not longer than a year, you should really wait with any tattooing over it. The thing is that your skin that area is still not completely recovered yet.
  2. How sensitive are you to different types of pain. Answering this question is important because if you already have problems to stand some weaker common pains that you might experience from time to time - like for example if you cut your finger or something like that it can be a problem for you. The reason for that is that stretch marks are actually little scars after the little cracks of the tissue under your skin. Tattooing is painful even on a healthy skin and thus even much more painful in such a sensitive skin as scars.
  3. Have you already thought about the tattoo you would like to get on your stretch marks? A tattoo on a stretch mark tends to blurry so you should maybe find something with a wispy sky in the background, etc. Just take that into consideration and try to come up with a compromise.

If you considered all the factors and you decide to go for it, make sure that you find a good artist. It would be best if he also already had some experiences with tattooing over stretch marks as well as it is requires a lot more more attention and a specific technique.

When you are already at the tattooing studio, my last advice would be to first make just a small tattoo over your stretch mark and wait a few days till it heals completely. This way you can be sure how your skin reacts on something like that and you can continue with the larger tattoos.

Although I described here the steps and things you should be careful about and take into consideration if you think about something like covering your stretch marks with tattoos, I don't recommend you to do so. First, I don't like tattoos at all. Second, if you gain weight on that area again, your tattoo will look very bad and this whole tattooing over stretch marks will prove to be completely not worth it, even worse it will make that area look a lot lot worse.

I would definitely think about ways how you can get rid of those stretch marks. There are so many creams and lotions you can try out and some of them are proven to significantly reduce the visibility of stretch marks and you can even get free samples as well.
